Kimetsu

Graduation collection, 2020

Kimetsu means “demon destruction”. It’s inspired by the anime Kimetsu no Yaiba, but it isn’t about the story. It’s about fighting the demons inside us.

(01) The story

I didn’t want to retell the anime. I took its characters and imagined them as warriors who have dedicated themselves to helping others. They don’t fight physical demons. They fight what goes on inside the people who are possessed by them: fear, trauma, pain and personal conflicts.

So the collection is really about empathy and looking out for each other. Every look is connected by a red thread of fate, a bond between people that can’t be broken, because nobody should have to face their demons alone.

Theme: Mental and emotional struggles, empathy, human connection and solidarity.
